This residential project was a unique challenge, as it involved reimagining an existing structure while respecting height restrictions imposed by its proximity to the airport. Light was a critical consideration, and our design approach began from the inside out. Instead of treating the interior and exterior as separate entities, we harmonized the two. The building’s façade reflects this approach, with selectively closed, open, or glazed sections that respond to the needs of the interior spaces. Privacy, natural light, and access to outdoor spaces were all carefully considered to create a seamless connection between the inside and the outdoors.

A standout feature of the design is its innovative approach to greenery. We introduced a custom aluminium “twist” that forms trays to hold plants, creating a fluid line that rises and falls along the façade. These twists alternate between slim forms and larger panels, resulting in a unique aesthetic that combines function and artistry. This dynamic element brings a sense of fluidity and movement to the structure, enhancing its visual identity.

Precision and durability were central to the material choices. A high-engineered aluminium façade ensures lasting quality, while a carefully curated bronze and light grey colour palette adds depth and contrast. The darker grey elements accentuate the structural form, while the lighter bronze outer skin highlights the twists, creating a peel-like effect that reveals layered profiles and dynamic forms.

The plant species were chosen to thrive in Mumbai’s challenging monsoon climate, ensuring the greenery remains robust and vibrant year-round. Subtle façade lighting further elevates the design, softly brushing the exterior with a dreamy, understated glow that complements the building’s elegant profile. This project is a testament to how innovative design can harmonize light, nature, and materiality to create a truly distinctive living experience.
