A VISION IN FUTURISTIC LIVING
Designed in the early 2000s, Millennium Bungalow embodies a bold exploration of futuristic living—with its name (bestowed by the homeowners) reflecting the spirit of its era: a celebration of stepping into a new millennium with innovation and vision. “Conceived during my formative years in design, the project reflects a multidirectional approach to ideas, embracing an unconventional typology that challenges architectural norms. The design reimagines a home as a dynamic structure that integrates form, function, and technology, inspired by the optimism of the new millennium,” Kaif Faquih recalls.
At the heart of the design is the observation deck—a circular, frustum-shaped mass that defines the front façade. Acting as both a focal point and a functional space, it offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The bungalow’s nautical facets are drawn from the early 20th-century fascination with new modes of transport, which at the time were ships and aircraft, symbolizing progress and innovation. To echo this, sweeping curves and floating elements across the bungalow emphasize a sense of movement and modernity.
While a suspended curtain track and cantilevered elements highlight the project’s technological precision, the all-white interior surfaces—contrasted by dramatic black stairs—create a striking visual impact. A winding staircase within a tall glazed tower offers an immersive experience, seamlessly blending vertical and horizontal movement with dynamic views of the interior and exterior, connecting the family to their surroundings at every step.
